Coconut & Peach Moringa Smoothie

By Lourdes Santos June 23, 2018

Between getting the kids ready for school and getting yourself prepared for the work day, it's sometimes hard to squeeze breakfast in before leaving the house. This energizing fruit smoothie recipe is simple and easy to make, and it'll keep you full until lunch time! Plus, it's sweet - so the kids will love it!

  • 1 cup of sliced peaches
  • 1/3 cup of coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon of Terra Isla Moringa Powder
  • 1 tablespoon of raw coconut flakes
  • 1 tablespoon of almond butter
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 cup of cold water OR 1 cup of ice (Depending on how you prefer the texture of your smoothie. Ice will make your smoothie have more of a frozen consistency, while water will make it have a more fluid, liquid consistency.)

  1. All you have to do is add all ingredients into a blender, and blend until smooth!

  2. Garnish your smoothie with an extra pinch of raw coconut flakes for an additional coconut flavor boost.

The major benefit of this smoothie is that it contains a variety of ingredients that work together in order to keep your energy up, and your stomach feeling full.

  • Peaches contain an abundance of minerals - calcium, potassium, manganese, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, and copper to name a few. This hearty combination of minerals along with their high fiber and vitamins A an C content make peaches an all-around healthy, filling snack! Peaches are also rich in carbohydrates and natural sugars, both of which provide energy.
  • Moringa Powder provides various B vitamins which help your body better absorb other vitamins and minerals. More specifically, Vitamin B1 helps your body convert sugar into energy. This is what gives Moringa its all-natural energizing properties. Moringa contains all 9 of the essential amino acids. Among them are leucine, isoleucine and valine. These are the three amino acids that make up a group known as The Branched Chain Amino Acids, or BCAAs. This group of amino acids is most well-known for providing your muscles with fuel for energy.
  • Coconut milk contains lauric acid, which is a medium-chain fatty acid that is known for providing the body with energy. Coconut milk is also high in natural calories which get converted into energy the body can use, and contains some electrolytes which help prevent exhaustion.
  • Bananas are an easily-digestible carbohydrate that are packed with fiber, antioxidants, special protein, natural sugar, and amino acids. Specifically, they contain a fiber known as pectin, which is well-known for appetite reduction and providing the feeling of being "full". The strong antioxidants of bananas combat cellular damage from free radicals, helping to prevent cancer and many other diseases. A special protein within bananas provides you with an amino acid called tyrosine. Tyrosine aids in norepinephrine production - a naturally-occurring chemical in the brain that boosts alertness, motivation, and focus. Last but not least, bananas are rich in Vitamin B6. This vitamin produces the hemoglobin that is responsible for proper oxygen distribution throughout the body, which keeps you energized.
